West Taghkanic Cemetery Rules and Regulations:

The Board of Directors shall appoint a superintendent or care taker who shall have general care of cemetery grounds and to carry into execution any plans for improvement as directed by the Directors.

No person shall take possession of any lot, make any improvement thereon until the price of such lot shall have been paid for as fixed by the Director's.

  1. The treasurer on receiving the price for such lot shall give the party paying the money a certificate of transfer the amount paid and number of lot. The secretary to keep a book showing all such transfers.

  2. The superintendent of the grounds will attend to the grading of lots and if others are employed to do the work it must be done as the superintendent directs.

  3. No disinterment shall be allowed without permission from the officers of the association.

  4. Gifts, bequeaths to the association to insure perpetual care to any lot shall be set aside and invested by the Board of Directors in the name of the association for that purpose and the income thereof shall be applied to the perpetual care of the plot designated. The income in excess of that which is necessary for the purpose of that stated to be devoted to the general care of the cemetery at large.

  5. The superintendent shall obtain the burial permit and deliver the sa man e to the secretary.

  6. The bylaw may be amended at any annual meeting of the association upon the vote of two-thirds of all present entitled to vote at such meeting.

  7. The treasurer shall receive all moneys due to the association and shall pay out same on the written order of the president.

  8. Grass, plants, stones, dirt or rubbish of any kind be removed from cemetery and not thrown in paths, roads or on other lots.

  9. Perennial plants or vines such as rose bushes, etc. shall not be planted in the cemetery. Potted plants however will be highly appreciated.

  10. No stock or poultry is allowed in the cemetery. Owners of stock or poultry shall be held responsible for any damage done.

  11. All foundations shall be of stone and cement and laid at least three feet deep.

  12. Corner posts shall be placed in line and flush with ground.

  13. No children are allowed to play in cemetery.

  14. Parties desiring lots graded or improved shall confer with the officials.

  15. Annual meeting should be held in May on such matters as may deem proper. For the purpose of adopting by-laws, rules, etc.
